Suhasini Mani Ratnam is honored as Maestro Ilaiyaraaja watches PS1

Ilayaraja-and-Suhasini

The most recent famous person from the Tamil cinema business to watch Ponniyin Selvan: Part 1 is Maestro Ilaiyaraaja. Suhasini Mani Ratnam, the actress, and wife of the director published this information on her social media accounts. Suhasini Mani Ratnam is also connected to the movie as a producer because Mani Ratnam’s production company collaborated on it.

Suhasini posted a photo of herself with the Isaignani with the caption, “Such an honour to have the maestro watch our film,” to her Instagram page. She didn’t say what the maestro had to say about the movie, though.

Mani Ratnam and Ilaiyaraaja have a lengthy history together, dating back to the renowned filmmaker’s 1983 debut picture Pallavi Anu Pallavi. Up until Thalapathi in 1991, the renowned composer and the director worked together on all of the latter’s productions (they have subsequently teamed up on AR Rahman’s movie). The pair collaborated on ten films that Mani Ratnam directed and one that he produced (Chatriyan). The partnership is regarded as one of the best between a director and composer in Tamil films. Mouna Ragam, Nayakan, Geethanjali, Idhaya Koil, and Agni Natchathiram are just a few of the classic soundtracks that fans still treasure today.

Mani Ratnam has had his eye on Ponniyin Selvan since the late 1980s when he first considered collaborating on the film with Kamal Haasan. This multi-starrer is based on the bestselling historical novel of the same name by Kalki Krishnamoorthy and stars Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, and Trisha, among others. It premiered on September 30 and is said to have made over Rs 300 crores in its opening week.
