Due to less than 75% attendance of teachers of BRD Medical College, Gorakhpur, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has refused to approve new seats for postgraduate (PG) for the session 2024-25. The college administration had demanded an increase of nine PG seats in four departments. In this, for the first time the college had applied for PG in the Department of Microbiology. Applications were made for three PG seats in this. Apart from this, a demand was made to increase two more PG seats each in the departments of Radio Diagnosis, Orthopedics and Ophthalmology.
NMC has found the attendance of professors, associate professors and assistant professors on the online software AEBAS to be less than the standard. Due to which, it has issued a letter on May 31 and has immediately rejected the applications for increase. At present, BRD Medical College has three PG seats in the Radiology Department, five in the Ophthalmology Department and five in the Orthopedics Department.
After the strictness of NMC regarding online attendance, the college administration has also come into action. Principal Dr. Ramkumar Jaiswal has appointed Dr. Rajkishore Singh of the Medicine Department as the nodal incharge for this. Along with this, he has issued instructions to all teachers and residents to make online attendance mandatory. Teachers will now be able to take leave online as well. So that its information can be officially sent to NMC.
