The Congress party on Wednesday announced that it will hold protests across the country over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test controversy. Apart from this, the party also instructed its state units to hold protests on Friday, demanding justice for the students. The Congress has written a letter to the State Congress Committee. Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said on Wednesday that at this time there is an urgent need to address many complaints and concerns regarding NEET UG.

The letter said that as you are aware, the National Testing Agency (NTA) had released the NEET-UG 2024 results on June 4, 2024. The NEET result has been marred by allegations of irregularities and paper leaks following inflated marks of some candidates. He said that students are upset with the inflated marks and irregularities and the granting of grace marks raises suspicion. The arrests made in Bihar, Gujarat and Haryana clearly show that corruption has taken place, which shows the pattern of malpractices in BJP-ruled states.

He also said that the Supreme Court has also stated the seriousness of the matter and the Supreme Court has said that if there is even 0.001 per cent negligence on the part of anyone in the conduct of the (NEET-UG) 2024 exam, then it will be dealt with very strictly. The apex court also said that ‘Imagine how dangerous it will be for the society if someone becomes a doctor by cheating. This protest will take place a few days before the first session of the new Lok Sabha starting on Monday. The opposition is all set to raise this issue in Parliament. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and top leader Rahul Gandhi have already questioned the government on this issue.
