Australian Stamp Released In Honor Of Mammootty

In a gesture of friendship and cultural appreciation, the Australian National Parliament in Canberra paid tribute to Indian actor Mammootty by unveiling a special commemorative stamp. The event was organized by the ‘Parliamentary Friends of India’ committee, comprised of members of the Australian Parliament dedicated to fostering strong relations between Australia and India in trade, commerce, and culture. The inaugural stamp was presented to the Indian High Commissioner to Australia, Manpreet Vora, and was unveiled by Dr. Andrew Charlton MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Friends of India and representative of Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Additionally, an impressive 10,000 personalized stamps featuring Mammootty’s likeness were launched in collaboration with the Australia India Business Council during the event at the Parliament House Hall.

Andrew Charlton MP shared Prime Minister Albanese’s congratulatory message during the ceremony, emphasizing Mammootty’s role as a cultural icon representing India. He reiterated that by honoring Mammootty, they were, in essence, honoring the rich culture of India.Indian High Commissioner Manpreet Vora expressed the sentiment that Indian celebrities should take inspiration from Mammootty’s dedication to his community and strive to make similar impactful contributions. The commemorative stamps, to be issued through the personalized division of Australia Post, will be available for purchase starting from the event day.Senator Murray Watt, Minister of Agriculture and Fisheries, commended Mammootty’s ‘Family Connect’ project, designed to support the parents of the Indian diaspora in Australia, recognizing its significant impact and valuable contribution to the community. He was among the distinguished attendees at the memorable event.
