Nayanthara and filmmaker Vignesh Shivan recently announced the birth of their twin boys on social media. Many people also concluded that Vignesh and Nayanthara’s children were born via surrogacy even though they didn’t explicitly say so. Given that commercial surrogacy has been forbidden in India since January, there has been debate regarding this since then. In the midst of all of this, Vignesh wrote a string of cryptic comments on Sunday regarding “mental wellness” and “pushing through difficult moments.”
“Choose people who are good for your mental and emotional health” read his first Instagram story. While another story stated: “It takes a lot of courage to push through hard times. Never give up. Good things are coming your way.”

In an affidavit created amid controversies surrounding the birth of their boys, Nayanthara and Vignesh Shivan reportedly admitted to being married six years ago. The surrogate is Nayanthara’s relative from the UAE. The state government has identified the Chennai hospital where the twins were born.

We are blessed with Twin Baby Boys. All Our prayers, and our ancestors’ blessings combined with all the good manifestations made, have come together in the form of 2 blessed babies for us. Need all your blessings for our Uyir and Ulagam. Life looks brighter and more beautiful. God is double great.”
Nayanthara married Vignesh Shivan on June 9 this year. Many stars including Rajinikanth, Shah Rukh Khan, Ajith Kumar, and Vijay Sethupathi attended the fairytale wedding. They had an intimate wedding ceremony in Mahabalipuram, outside of Chennai.
