There is no specific dress code on the day of the UPSC exam, but candidates are advised to wear comfortable, light-colored clothes on the day of the exam as the weather is hot. Female candidates appearing for the exam should avoid wearing expensive accessories or heels. Candidates should wear only a wrist watch instead of a smart watch.
By what time is it safe to reach the examination centre?
UPSC candidates will have to appear for a total of 2 papers in the UPSC CSE preliminary exam. The first paper will be conducted from 09:30 AM to 11:30 AM, while the second paper will be conducted from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM.
UPSC has stated in the guidelines issued that all candidates should reach the examination center at least 30 minutes before the actual time. Candidates will be denied entry into the examination center after the stipulated time. In such a situation, candidates should keep a close watch on the time.
Which items are prohibited in the examination center
On the day of the exam, candidates are advised not to enter the exam centre with any valuables, mobile phones, smart/digital watches, IT gadgets, books and bags. If any candidate is found carrying any cheating material, their candidature will be cancelled, along with a ban on their participation in future UPSC attempts.
You can take these things to the examination center
Candidates will be allowed to carry only one e-admit card, pen, pencil, identity card and passport size photograph (which is attached to your admit card). Apart from these, no other items will be allowed inside the examination center.
Let us tell you, the UPSC prelims exam was scheduled to be held on 26 May, but due to the general elections held in India, this exam was postponed till 16 June. The general elections for the 18th Lok Sabha began on 19 April and the result was released on 4 June.
