It was previously reported that the creators of Ponnieyin Selvan are preparing for a major sonic release on September 6. And now they have announced that a new trailer will be released during the event. Lyca Productions released the announcement through a poster on Twitter. It has been confirmed that the first audio show will take place at the Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai. The team previously released the first teaser on July 8.
The film is adapted from the 1954 Kalki novel of the same name. Several prominent figures of Tamil cinema have tried to turn the classic into a movie, including MGR and Kamal Hasan. The film will be released in two parts, directed by Mani Ratnam and music composed by A. R. Rahman. Tamil writers Elango Kumaravel and B Jeyamohan wrote the screenplay for the film. The cast consists of Jayam Ravi, Karthi, Vikram, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Parthiban, Sarathkumar, Aishwarya Lekshmi and Vikram Prabhu.
Ponnieyin Selvan-I is currently scheduled for September 30, 2022, with a release date set. The film will be released in multiple languages including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi.
