Remembrance of the Greatest Director Satyajit Ray on his Birth Anniversary

One among world’s greatest directors, Satyajit Ray was born on May 2, 1921. He hailed from a family which was into the world of arts and literature. Satyajit Ray is knows as one of the greatest filmmaker of the 20th century cinema, he had a global fan following.

Ray was India’s first and only Oscar-winning director, he started his career as a graphic artist .Later Satyajit Ray went to London where he realised his passion for filmmaking. He directed 36 films, including feature films, documentaries and telly films. Satyajit Ray was also a fiction writer, publisher, illustrator, graphic designer and film critic.

His first film, Pather Panchali (1955), won eleven international awards, including Best Human Documentary at the Cannes Film Festival and an honorary Academy Award in 1992.

Satyajit Ray was onoured with the Bharat Ratna in 1992 by the Government of India.
He is very well known for his cult flms Pather Panchali, Nayaka, Aranyer Din Ratri, Seemabaddhaa, Charulata and the Feluda series.
