In a historic move, Shah Rukh Khan’s blockbuster movie Pathaan is all set to become the first Hindi film to release in Bangladesh after a gap of 52 years. The movie has been a sensation since its release in January 2022 and has achieved yet another milestone with this release. Pathaan will hit the Bangladeshi screens on May 12, 2023, and this is indeed a big achievement for the team as it represents the first Hindi movie to release post-1971 when the country was created.
Yash Raj Films’ Nelson D’Souza said in a statement, “Cinema has always been a unifying force between nations, races, and cultures. It transcends borders, galvanizes people and plays a significant hand in bringing people together. We are incredibly thrilled that Pathaan, which has done historic business worldwide, will now get a chance to entertain audiences in Bangladesh!”
The authorities in Bangladesh have given permission for the release of Pathaan, which is a major development for the Indian film industry. The film represents a perfect first offering of Shah Rukh Khan and Hindi cinema to release in the country, showcasing Indian culture and cinema in its full glory.
Pathaan is directed by Siddharth Anand and is part of the YRF Spy Universe, which also includes Hrithik Roshan’s War and Salman Khan’s Tiger series. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan in the titular role alongside John Abraham and Deepika Padukone, with a cameo from Salman Khan.
The movie has been a huge commercial success and is the second-highest-grossing Hindi film of all time, having earned over Rs 1000 crore globally. It is also the highest-grossing film of YRF’s Spy Universe, which includes blockbusters like Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Ek Tha Tiger and Tiger Zinda Hai, and Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s War.
