Bansidhar Bhuyan, president of the Odisha Secondary School Teachers Association, said, “Instead of issuing advisories to schools on how students should study, the department should first address the chronic problem of teacher shortage.”

“In many district schools, a teacher has to work as a mathematics and science teacher because new teachers are not appointed in the schools for years. This will cause a lot of problems at the education level. The department has to help the students in matriculation examination. Instead of motivating people to get more marks, the level of education should be improved.
