Krishna Babu, the father of veteran actor and superstar Mahesh Babu, passed away on Tuesday in Hyderabad at the age of 79. His granddaughter Sitara paid tribute to the actor in a social media post. In a flashback photo with her grandfather, Sitara, the daughter of Mahesh Babu and Namrata Shirodkar, wrote: “Weekday lunch will never be the same again…You taught me so many valuable things… Always made me smile. Now all that’s left is my memory of you. You’re my hero… I hope I can make you proud someday. I’ll miss you so much Thatha garu…”

Manjula Ghattamaneni, Krishna’s daughter, posted a tribute to her deceased father on Tuesday night. “You are a superstar to the world and for us, at home, you are a loving, simple father who is always there for us, no matter what. Even in your hectic schedules, you made it a point to be there for us, giving us all that we need,” read her post.
Krishna, who is best known by his stage name, had a lengthy film career and appeared in over 350 films. In 1965, Thene Manasulu, a romance drama directed by Adurthi Subba Rao, marked his debut in Telugu film. In addition to acting, Krishna was a producer and director of movies. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2009.
According to sources, the renowned actor-director was taken to the hospital on Monday, November 14, after experiencing breathing problems and chest pain. After his health started to decline, Krishna was later placed on life support and switched to a ventilator. Ramesh Babu, Krishna’s oldest child, went away in January of this year. Ghattamaneni Indira Devi, the famous actor’s wife, passed away in September 2022. The descendants of Krishna include his daughters Padmavathi, Manjula Ghattamaneni, and Priyadarshini, as well as his sons Mahesh Babu and Naresh Babu.
