The Kerala Police has developed a system called chops, which utilizes Artificial Intelligence (AI) Image Search to identify and apprehend criminals. The system can compare images of suspects with a database of around one lakh criminal records stored in the Criminal Gallery, ensuring effective identification. Even if criminals change their appearance, the Face Recognition System in iCops helps recognize them.
To use this system, one can take photos of suspects using a mobile phone and quickly compare them with the images in the gallery. This technology aids in identifying criminals even during crowded situations or while conducting search operations. The software has been developed by skilled police personnel from the CCTNS (Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems) division. Trained police officers, like those at the Thrissur Vadakkanchery Police Station, utilize this tool effectively to apprehend suspects and solve criminal cases.
