Thalapathy Vijay and his wife Sangeetha are one of the South’s most cherished couples. Their love story is nothing less than a fairytale, and it is our personal favourite. Despite their low-key personal lives, rumours about Vijay and Sangeetha’s marital life are currently trending on the internet. According to some reports, the couple is getting divorced.

The internet has been ablaze with reports that Thalapathy Vijay and his wife Sangeetha are divorcing. The rumours started after Vijay’s Wikipedia page stated that he and his wife are divorcing amicably. This rumour, however, is false, as the Wikipedia page makes no mention of it. According to a reliable source, “The reports of Vijay and Sangeetha’s divorce are baseless. We have no idea how it began.”

Sangeetha’s absence from the Varisu audio launch, as well as Atlee and Priya’s baby shower, have fueled the rumours. However, it is reported that the star’s wife is on vacation with her children in the United States, which is why she was unable to attend any events. Vijay is expected to join his family soon as well. Nothing, however, has been officially confirmed.

Vijay met his then-future wife Sangeetha after the release of the film Poove Unakkaga. During one of his shooting schedules in Chennai in 1996, the actor met his die-hard fan Sangeetha Sornalingam. She had travelled all the way from the United Kingdom to meet Vijay and congratulated him on his performance in Poove Unakkaga. The Bigil star was blown away because she went out of her way to see him. He even invited her to his house the next day for a quick chat and to meet his family. They began to like each other quickly, and their parents agreed.

On August 25, 1999, they got married. They married according to both Hindu and Christian traditions. Vijay and Sangeetha had their first child, Jason Sanjaya, a year after their marriage, and they were blessed with a daughter, Divya Saasha, in September 2005. They’ve been together for 22 years and set major couple goals like no one else.
