Innocent Is No Longer A Bright Memory

The cremation was held at St. Thomas Cathedral, Iringalakuda with official honors witnessed by a large crowd. After completing the prayers at home, the dead body was taken to the grave of St. Thomas Cathedral, Iringalakuda, where the parents are resting, along with hundreds of mourners. Celebrities from the world of cinema, politics, and culture also attended the funeral. For the last two days, thousands of people paid their last respects at the Kochi Kadavantra Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium and at the Town Hall of his hometown, Iringalakuda. Loved ones have not yet been able to accept the death of Innocent, who was a prominent presence in Malayalam film, culture, and politics. Many shed tears. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, actors Mammootty, Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Jayaram, Dileep, Kavya directors Sathyan Anthikad, Kamal, Lal, and other eminent people from the film and political field came to see Innocent for the last time.

In addition to being an actor, colleagues remember Innocent as one of the personalities who held the Malayalam film world together regardless of his size. Colleagues remember that Innocent was a place where anyone could always go and his house was his ‘residence’ because of his 18 years at the head of ‘Amma’, the association of film stars. When Innacha finally said goodbye to that house today, the people mourned. Malayalam will never forget Mathaichettan, Waryare, and Kittunni, the favorite of Malayalam who appeared in about 750 films. He hit the silver screen in 1972 with the film ‘Nrithasala’ and has made Malayalam laugh and think for half a century. Even though death has robbed Innacha, who once again showed a bright smile in front of Malayalees after surviving cancer, he will surely be remembered forever through his characters.
