Continued Medium Rain Expected In the State

The Central Meteorological Department has issued a warning of continued moderate rain in the state of Kerala. Specifically, areas in South Kerala and hilly regions are expected to witness thundershowers during the afternoon. Fortunately, there are no special rain warnings for any district today.

Looking ahead to Sunday, heavy rain is anticipated at isolated locations. It is advised for the public to pay attention to lightning caution alerts. Fishing activities along the Kerala-Karnataka Lakshadweep coasts are unaffected, but fishermen and coastal residents should remain cautious due to the potential for high waves and storm surges along the Kerala-South Tamil Nadu coasts. The Central Meteorological Department reports the presence of cyclonic conditions over the Bay of Bengal and North Kerala.In terms of October rainfall statistics, Pathanamthitta and Thiruvananthapuram districts have received the highest amounts. Pathanamthitta has received 82% of its total monsoon rainfall, while Thiruvananthapuram has received 80%. Additionally, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Kollam, and Ernakulam districts have already experienced above-average rainfall, whereas Wayanad has received the least rainfall in the region.
