Will Mani Ratnam direct Rajinikanth’s next project?

Rajinikanth-and-Mani

The South Indian film industry has been ruled by the charismatic actor Rajinikanth for more than 40 years, making him the Superstar of Indian cinema. Rajinikanth has previously collaborated with a number of notable cinema directors, and he is soon to work once more with Mani Ratnam, one of the best. Yes, you read that correctly. After thirty years, the superstar and the filmmaker will work together on a movie. Rajinikanth signed a two-movie deal with the producers of “Darbar,” which will be helmed by Cibi Chakravarthy, as we previously reported.  However, the producers now plan to hire Mani Ratnam for Rajinikanth’s second film with ‘Darbar’ makers as they are interested in teaming up with him after 31 years.

However, Mani Ratnam has not yet written the script for the movie and won’t begin until he has finished editing “Ponniyin Selvan 2,” which is expected to be released early in 2023. The official announcement of Mani Ratnam and Rajinikanth’s reconciliation may therefore take some time, and it is anticipated to be made around the time that “Ponniyin Selvan 2” is released.

Rajinikanth-with-Mani

It’s important to note that Rajinikanth attended the audio premiere of Mani Ratnam’s “Ponniyin Selvan 1” as the chief guest. The skilled performer discussed his collaboration with the director on the 1991 movie “Thalapathi,” and the funny speech afterward went popular online. Additionally, Rajinikanth recently praised Sarathkumar for playing Periya Pazhuvettaraiyar in the film adaptation of Kalki’s novel, “Ponniyin Selvan,” which the latter had desired to play.

In the gangster drama “Thalapathi,” directed by Mani Ratnam, Rajinikanth had a strong performance.
