As the release dates for both Thunivu and Varisu approach, the tension and heat between Ajith Kumar and Thalapathy Vijay fans grow. After eight years, the two major stars of Tamil cinema are clashing at the box office, and the producer of Vijay’s Varisu has already landed himself in a controversy. Dil Raju stated that because Vijay was a bigger star than Ajith Kumar, his film Varisu should have gotten more screens than Thunivu. His remark drew a lot of criticism, particularly from Ajith Kumar fans.
However, it is now Vijay fans who are irritated by a recent incident. In the midst of the conflict between the two factions, the official Twitter account of Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation issued a poster congratulating power board employees on their bravery in working during natural disasters. They did, however, use the logo from the film Thunivu in their poster. It took Ajith Kumar’s name and replaced it with its own.
“Heartfelt congratulations to the electricity employees who are risking their lives to provide uninterrupted and reliable power supply to the people during rains and natural calamities, ” said the post titled Thunivu with a tag line ‘No guts, no glory’.
However, this was met with widespread criticism, particularly from Vijay fans who questioned why Tangedco was promoting the film Thunivu. Some speculated that this was done because the film is distributed by Red Giants, which is owned by Udhayanidhi Stalin, a state minister. Tangedco deleted the controversial tweet without explanation after the backlash.
Tangedco had previously posted the film RRR to promote ‘Reduce, Reuse, Recycle’ as part of its energy conservation awareness week.
