Vijay Sethupathi starrer Maamanithan’s OTT rights sold

Vijay Sethupathi’s film ‘Maamanithan’ was released on June 24 in theaters, and the digital streaming rights were gained by a big OTT platform. The family show helmed by Seenu Ramasamy has gotten acclaim from numerous film buffs including the director Shankar. The film featured Vijay Sethupathi and Gayathrie in the lead roles and the music for the film was made by father-son duo Ilaiyaraaja and Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Immediately after the film’s release in theaters, an OTT stage has purchased the digital rights of the film supposedly for a huge amount. Taking to Twitter, the OTT platform reported that they are glad to get ‘Maamanithan’s advanced online premiere rights. The statement read, “Happy to have bagged the digital rights for #Maamanithan. Our heartfelt congratulations to the ‘Maamanithan’ crew.”

The film was first launched in 2016 by Seenu Ramasamy after the success of the film ‘Dharma Dhurai’ with Vijay Sethupathi. The shooting for ‘Maamanithan’ then started in 2018 and was wrapped by 2019, however the film was postponed for quite a while supposedly because of monetary issues.

Vijay Sethupathi plays the role of an auto rickshaw driver in the film and Gayathrie plays his better half who is also a mother of two children. The film’s story centers around a lady’s feelings as a mother and spouse who keeps her family intact.
