Thalapathy Vijay’s Master and Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru should be released to save the cinema industry, says Vetri theatre owner
The crisis of coronavirus has given a halt to  the entertainment industry. Like many other sectors even the entertainment industry is facing a huge loss amid lockdown. In April two Kollywood films, Thalapathy Vijay’s Master and Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru was scheduled to release, but it’s postponed due to lockdown.

Rakesh Gowthaman, owner of  Vettri Theatres has requested the makers to clash the above two movies during Diwali as they have the potential to bring great footfalls in the cinema halls. His tweet reads,” “#Master & #SooraraiPottru are our only trump cards now that is going bring the crowd back to theatres !!! The production houses should take a very wise decision on the release which I personally feel is by Diwali 2020 only …”

Master, is an action thriller directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj and also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Malavika Mohanan in significant roles. It is produved by Xavier Britto, under his banner XB Film Creators. The music of the film is composed by Anirudh Ravichander.

Soorarai Pottru is the first time collaboration of Suriya and Sudha Kongara. It was being said that Soorarai Pottru is a biopic on Captain GR Gopinath who found Air Deccan. However, Suriya clarified that the film is not a biopic on him but is only inspired by few events in his life. Tamil and Malayalam actress Aparna Balamurali has been signed on to play the leading lady in Soorarai Pottru. It is co-produced by Guneet Monga, who is known for bankrolling films like The Lunchbox, Masaan and Gangs of Wasseypur. Soorarai Pottru also features Mohan Babu in a key role.
