Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu’s Review

The first part of Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu (VTK) feels exactly like it is a continuation of one of Jeyamohan’s short stories. Everything appears authentic and contributes to the plot, whether it be character interactions, slang, or location. The movie gradually begins to sound a little manufactured as it gets closer to Bombay. It focuses on Muthu developing into a fearsome thug, but it never explains why.

However, the latter demonstrates how a “nobody” overcomes all obstacles to succeed. The challenges in VTK don’t seem to be difficult enough. But the first half’s plodding screenplay treatment is overwhelmed by an inventive, out-of-the-box intermission block that can drive anyone insane. The intermission block is a fitting climax of Simbu’s performance, GVM’s concept, the chic cinematography, and the entrancing background music by AR Rahman. This setup and payoff are excellent. It also raises the bar for the second half, but there isn’t much development in the plot there. The narrative is ultimately derailed by a romantic song and a song that follows it. Additionally predictable is the second half, which detracts from the movie’s interest.

Simbu delivers a performance that seamlessly carries the movie, and his metamorphosis from a simple villager to a criminal is fantastic. You can’t resist admiring him on TV despite the fact that his homework is clear. Siddhi Idnani and Neeraj Madhav perform admirably despite having little screen time. In the role of Sreedharan, which requires him to walk a tightrope, Neeraj in particular appears to be exceedingly mature.

In terms of background music, this is one of AR Rahman’s best compositions. The battles are also choreographed in a way that benefits the story of the movie. The camera work effectively supports these divisions. Vendhu Thanindhathu Kaadu is a technically excellent movie that reveals a different side of composer AR Rahman and actor Simbu. Gautham Menon deserves praise for attempting something outside of his comfort zone. The movie is watchable by everyone and a feast for the fans of STR.
