In the upcoming weeks, Unni Mukundan is preparing for back-to-back releases. The actor, whose most recent Telugu film Yashoda debuted in theatres on November 11, is also getting ready for the release of Shafeekkinte Santosham, his second production effort, which is directed by Anup Pandalam.

In a recent interview with OTTplay, Unni discussed how he had never planned to make a movie of this kind and how his debut release this year, Meppadiyan, altered the perception of the audience.

“Be it Shafeekkinte Santosham or any other romantic comedy, these weren’t even part of our plan. This film is special. After Meppadiyan, I am again producing this family comedy. I have rendered three songs in it as well as written the lyrics for a particular track. I believe it will be a neat film that the family audience can enjoy,” he says.

The film is anticipated to premiere in theatres towards the end of this month or in December after receiving a clean U rating from CBFC recently. The release date has not yet been formally announced by the creators.

Shafeekkinte Santosham stars Unni in the lead role, but it also features significant performances from Divya Pillai, Athmiya Rajan, Shehin Siddique, Mithun Ramesh, Sminu Sijo, Boban Samuel, and Jordi Poonjar. The cast of the movie also includes roughly 100 theatre performers.

In contrast, Unni plays a doctor in his most recent film Yashoda, which stars Samantha Ruth Prabhu. Additionally, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar plays a crucial part in the Hari and Harish-directed movie. Unni revealed on Yashoda that he was captivated by the movie from the opening narration.
