Indian Navy again with a historic achievement. The Indian Navy has achieved a major milestone by making its maiden night landing of a MiG-29K fighter jet on the aircraft carrier INS Vikrant. INS Vikrant is an indigenously built aircraft carrier of India. This is the first time a MiG 29K has landed at night in Vikrant. This significant achievement is an indication of the Indian Navy’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat, the Navy spokesperson said on Twitter. The challenging night landing trail showcased the skill and professionalism of the Vikrant crew and Navy pilots, the Navy said.
Earlier, a MiG-29K aircraft had taken off and landed from INS Vikrant. Aerial inspections of Vikrant’s sea were conducted using Chetak and Sea King’s help.76 percent of Indian-made materials have been used for the construction of the ship. This massive warship has the capacity to carry 30 small and large fighter jets. INS Vikrant has a length of 860 feet.INS Vikrant is a 40,000-tonne Stoban-type vessel with a construction cost of Rs 3,500 crore.30 fighter jets and around 10 helicopters can be accommodated on board at the same time. During the 12-year-long construction, Vikrant was visited by many VVIPs like the President, Defense Minister, Navy Chief, and Union Shipping Minister.
