Dev Mohan has won the hearts of the Malayalee audience with his debut film ‘Sufiyum Sujathayum’. The actor drew attention to the chanting and Sufi dance emanating from the Jinnu mosque. The actor has shared a video that makes it clear that this is how Dev Mohan, a young newcomer working for MNC in Bangalore, was made a Sufi.
Dev shared his makeover video on Instagram. Sufiyum Sujathayum’s audition was in 2018. Two days later, Dev was selected as the captain from the shortlist. After getting the script in hand, there was a gap of two years to start shooting.

During this time, Dev was preparing to become a Sufi. Sufi in the film is a calm and gentle romantic character who speaks in a very low voice. Dev Mohan told Manorama that he had talked to director Naranipuzha Shanavas and Vijay Babu regularly and had an approximate picture of Sufi in his mind.
Sufi is not a familiar character to Malayalees. Therefore, Dev wanted his character to become a signature role that would stay in their minds for a long time to come. The film starring Aditi Rao Hydari and Jayasurya in the lead roles was the first OT release in Malayalam.
