The time when even my husband started telling you to shape that eyebrow at least; Aswathy Sreekanth shares her experience

“The first step in my recovery from post-partum depression was a haircut. Even though she had started working after giving birth, she was still living in her old maternity dresses that hung loosely. The curly hair, which had been needlessly straightened and ruined at the time of the wedding, had grown back to below her shoulders by the time she gave birth. Even I didn’t know that me who walked around with half curly hair and the rest like a cow’s tail, tied up in mismatched clothes” – says Aswathy.

“There was a time when even my husband said that you should at least shape that eyebrow. One day I suddenly felt like cutting my hair. He called a taxi and went straight to the parlour. The Filipino girl who was standing there told Koch to blindfold you so that you can cut all the straightened hair. She did the job perfectly. So a new me appeared in the mirror with shoulder-length curly hair. I was overwhelmed with joy” – says Aswathy.
“Next was to buy some dresses for the exact measurements. In fact, it was a start. That’s when I realized how important self-care is in getting back to life. It’s the love language I show myself on some dull days when I cut my hair, go for aimless drives, and order ice cream alone at midnight. That’s what I said,I cut my hair yesterday when I was tired and bored, and renewed myself. A joy and peace Hair cutting is therapeutic for me ! Whats your therapy other than ‘therapy’ ?” – Aswathy noted.
