Tamil director Mani Nagaraj breathed his last today on 25 Aug

Mani Nagaraj, the director of GV Prakash’s ‘Pencil,’ passed away today (August 25). The director was an assistant director of Gautham Vasudev Menon and made his directorial debut with ‘Pencil.’ According to reports, the director went into cardiac arrest.
Colleagues and members of the film industry who worked with filmmaker Mani Nagaraj have expressed their astonishment and grief on social media. Suresh, a film editor, expressed his sorrow on Twitter.

Editor TS Suresh took to Twitter to offer his condolences to Mani Nagaraj’s family members. He wrote, “Shocked & saddened to know about the passing away of film-director Mani Nagaraj, former associate of Gautham Vasudev Menon. He’s the one who taught me the basics of post-production. A good friend & a great teacher gone too soon. Rest in Peace, Mani Ji. You will be missed (sic).”

Music composer and actor GV Prakash also expressed his sympathies on Twitter.

Lyricist Parvathy wrote, “So sorry to know about the passing of director of Pencil, Mani Nagaraj. Deepest condolences @gvprakash and everyone associated with him (sic).”

Mani Nagaraj directed the 2016 film ‘Pencil,’ which also marked GV Prakash’s acting debut. Mani Nagaraj’s was waiting for the release of his second film ‘Vasuvin Garbinigal,’ which is set to be released in 2023. The film’s first look poster was revealed in June, and the cast includes Gopinath Chandran, Anikha Surendran, Vanitha Vijaykumar, Lena Kumar, and Seetha. The plot revolves around a doctor and four pregnant ladies and was announced in 2020. Bankrolled by Xavier Britto, the film is the official Tamil remake of the Malayalam film, Zachariayude Garbhinikal.
