Suresh Gopi invites Ramakrishnan to perform Mohiniyattam

Actor Suresh Gopi invited Mohiniyattam dancer RLV Ramakrishnan to the temple festival. Suresh Gopi’s question was whether he could perform Mohiniyattam alone in front of the goddess during the temple festival on the 28th at his family temple in Bharanikkavu, Kollam. Ramakrishnan agreed. Suresh Gopi invited Ramakrishnan over phone. This is how my innovation works. Suresh Gopi told Ramakrishnan that he could not unite with people who live for social criticism and that he could not say when they would turn back. Suresh Gopi said that he will give the stage to Ramakrishnan but he will not be a party to the controversy. Suresh Gopi said that the controversy is being created to divert the attention from the feelings against the government. Meanwhile, RLV informed Suresh Gopi that he would be given the stage. RLV Ramakrishnan said that he is happy to receive such a response from the film industry for the first time after eight years of his brother’s death. Speaking to a leading media outlet, RLV Ramakrishnan said that there are such people in the field of art and some of the children from their Dalit community have had such experiences.

Ramakrishnan’s elder brother Kalabhavan Mani and Suresh Gopi have acted together in several films. At the same time, Kalamandalam Satyabhama, without naming anyone, said that the Mohiniyattam of a male artist is very bad because of the ‘color of the crow’. This led to a huge controversy the other day. Though he did not mention the name of RLV Ramakrishnan, it was said that he was a Chalakkudikkaran dancer and had issues with the Sangeetha Nataka Academy. He in an interview given to a news channel said this. Not only this, Kalamandalam Satyabhama also stood firm on the abusive remarks made against Ramakrishnan. I have given my own opinion that if people who are not beautiful, black people are learning dance, they should perform in a temple or something, black people should not come to the competition, there is a separate column for beauty in the competition, and many people are coming to the competition by wearing makeup. In the interview, Satyabhama said that according to her, if boys have a little Mohiniyattam, they should have the same beauty. Many in the film industry have come out in support of this. Actors Hareesh Peradi, Sneha Sreekumar, Methil Devika, Joy Mathew and others were present. Finally, the Human Rights Commission took a suo motu case against Satyabhama’s controversial remarks. Commission member V. K. Beena Kumari demanded that the Thrissur district police chief and the government secretary of the Department of Culture should examine the remarks and submit a report within 15 days. The case has been registered on the basis of media reports.
