Even though Journalist-turned-film Supriya Menon Prithviraj has only done in five films, she has already succeeded in carving out a place for herself in the Malayalam film industry. Supriya, who entered in M-Town by supporting the film “9,” which also represents Sony Pictures Entertainments’ first foray into regional cinema, has at this point supported a number of blockbusters. Most recently she bankrolled “Jana Gana Mana,” which attracted pan-Indian acclaim. Supriya Menon Prithviraj recently talked at an event in Kochi about her goals for the production company as they advance.
Good content has always been their production house’s guiding principle, and Supriya Menon highlighted that she wanted to make her own name in the industry. She said she wanted to work on less star-driven movies and concentrate more on movies about women. Supriya also discussed the gender imbalance in the sector and how men dominate it. She continued by saying that she wanted to find and showcase fresh talents as well as attract a lot more women to the field.
Supriya Menon stressed that she has learned from her experience that there aren’t many women working in the producing industry, and she wants to change that by giving them more possibilities. She continued by saying that because the film industry is so large and offers so many chances, it is her mission to make them available to women and to foster an environment that would allow everyone to develop. Supriya Menon has an eight-year-old daughter with actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, with whom she is married.
