Actress Leena Maria Paul, a co-accused in the 200 crore fraud case orchestrated by Sukesh Chandrasekhar, had her bail plea dismissed by a bench comprising Justice Aniruddha Bose and Justice Bela M Trivedi. The court highlighted the seriousness of the allegations against Leena and questioned how the money had reached her account without her knowledge. The court emphasized that Leena was complicit in her husband’s fraudulent activities and was not intervening in the ongoing high court proceedings, which had also denied her bail. Despite arguments from Leena’s legal team, the court did not consider her claim of non-involvement in Sukesh’s fraud and the circumstances she had faced over the past two and a half years.During the proceedings, Leena was represented by senior advocate R Basant, along with advocates Paul John Edison, Anand Malik, and Kanika Kapoor. The case revolves around Sukesh and his associates defrauding 200 crores from the wife of Shivender Singh, the former promoter of Fortis Healthcare. They demanded this sum in exchange for releasing Shivender Singh and his brother Malvinder Mohan Singh, who were incarcerated for offenses such as loan fraud and money laundering.
