SSC CHSC Recruitment 2024
34.55 lakh unemployed people from across the country have applied for the Combined Higher Secondary Level (CHSL) Exam 2024, one of the most prominent recruitments of the Staff Selection Commission (SSC). The special thing is that with the increase in the posts of clerks in various ministries, departments and offices of the central government, the number of applicants has also increased. In 2023, 32.17 lakh candidates had applied for 1762 posts. In 2024, 34.55 lakh have claimed for 3712 vacant posts. However, this year also the number of applicants is less as compared to 2021. During the Corona period, a record more than 38 lakh candidates had applied in 2021.
For this recruitment, recruitment is done on the posts of Lower Division Clerk (LDC) / Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA), (Postal Assistant) / (Sorting Assistant), (Data Entry Operator) in various ministries, offices and departments of the Central Government. . In the information sought under the Right to Information Act, the Commission has informed that 34,55,669 candidates have applied for CHSL 2024. These include 6,01,165 candidates from unreserved category, Other Backward Class (OBC) 11,69,589, Scheduled Caste (SC) 6,97,478, Scheduled Tribe (ST) 2,37,949, Economically Backward Class (EWS) 2,02,782. 14,686 ex-servicemen and 40,205 disabled candidates have also applied.

Tier-1 examination will be conducted in June-July 2024. The timing of Tier-2 will be told later.
If we talk about the selection process, then first there will be Tier-I (Computer Based Examination) exam. Candidates passing this will be called for Tier-II (Computer Based Examination). Tier-I paper will consist of 4 parts each consisting of 25 questions from different subjects. All questions will be objective type multiple choice. The subjects include English Language, General Intelligence, Quantitative Aptitude (Basic Arithmetic Skills) and General Awareness. The examination will consist of objective type multiple choice questions with negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong response. Candidates will be given a total of 60 minutes to write Tier-1 paper. Candidates who pass Tier-1 will be called for Tier-2.
There will be two sessions in Tier-2 in which the first session will be written test and the second will be skill test/typing test (as per the post).
If the exam will be held in multiple shifts, the marks will be normalized. The result will be released based on normalized marks only.
Negative Marking- There will be negative marking of 0.50 marks for each wrong answer in SSC CHSL exam.
