On the fourth day of the first match of the three-match Test series between India and South Africa, South Africa was all out for 431 runs in their first innings. Based on the first innings, India got a lead of 71 runs. Ashwin bowled gracefully and took seven wickets. Batting first after winning the toss, Team India scored 502 runs after losing 7 wickets and declared their first innings. Now India’s goal will be to score big by batting fast. South Africa had scored 385 for eight at the end of the third day’s play. Uthre Kagiso Rabada, who scored 15 runs as the final batsman, was preceded by Dean Elgar and Quinton de Kock to face South African bowlers. Elgar scored an outstanding inning of 160 runs and he became the first South African batsman to score a century on Indian soil since 2010, while Dickak (111) batted in his evergreen style. After taking the wicket of Duplessis in the second session, Ashwin bowled to Deck on a fast turn ball. Earlier, Ravindra Jadeja (2 for 116) took his 200th wicket in Tests with Elgar’s wicket.
He is the tenth Indian bowler to achieve this feat. Elgar gave a brilliant view of his skills in the harsh conditions of the subcontinent and completed the 12th century of his Test career. He is the first South African to reach triple digits on Indian soil after Hashim Amla’s century in 2010.
