Sandalwood actor Lakshman dies at 74

Lakshman, a veteran Kannada actor, passed away on Monday, January 23. According to media sources, Lakshman, 74, died after a heart attack at his home in Mudalapalya. He has a number of age-related health concerns. The veteran actor is well-known for his evil performances, and he has worked with legends like Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan, Ambareesh, and Rajinikanth.

Meanwhile, numerous Sandalwood film industry superstars have visited Lakshman’s home to pay their condolences. The veteran actor, who has appeared in over 200 films, began his career with a modest role in Usha Swayamvara, a 1980 Kannada comedy-drama. The film was directed by C V Rajendran and starred Manjula Amritham, Srinath, and B S Dwarakish Narayana Swamy. Lakshman’s performance as Inspector Kulwant in Ambareesh’s Antha remains one of his most unforgettable.

Lakshman’s path to acting was not an easy one. He had to drop out of school after finishing his tenth grade in order to support his family at such a young age. Before entering the film industry, he worked at a modest manufacturer.

Last December 2022, Kannada actor Krishna G Rao, best known for his titular character of a blind man in Yash’s KGF: Chapter 1, died of a lung infection.
