The divine drama, which received widespread acclaim, has now qualified for two Academy Award nominations. According to reports, the film has been nominated for Best Picture and Best Actor at the Academy Awards.
Rishab Shetty announced on Twitter on Tuesday that Kantara has received two Oscar nominations ahead of the nomination list announcement. The Kantara actor and the director wrote on Twitter, “We are overjoyed to share that ‘Kantara’ has received 2 Oscar qualifications! A heartfelt thank you to all who have supported us. The 95th Academy Awards will take place on March 12, 2023. Rishab Shetty’s film Kantara is set against the backdrop of the Keraadi region of coastal Karnataka. The actor-filmmaker also starred in the blockbuster film, which was produced by Vijay Kiragandur under the prestigious banner Hombale Films.
Sapthami Gowda, Kishore, Achyuth Kumar, Pramod Shetty, and others play pivotal roles in the critically acclaimed film. Kantara’s music was composed by Ajaneesh Loknath. The director of photography is Arvind S Kashyap. The film’s worldwide gross collections surpassed Rs 400 crore, making it only the second Kannada film to do so.
