Director Chandru, who co-wrote Maanaadu, Tamizh Padam 1, and Tamizh Padam 2, is gearing up for his sophomore directorial, Revolver Rita. Keerthy Suresh will play the lead, and Redin Kingsley will play a comic role.

“Usually, when you mention the term female-centric film, people think that it will be a serious one, but this one will be an action comedy entertainer. It’s a city-based subject and we are planning to start the shoot by March-April.” says Chandru, whose previous film was the fantasy comedy Naveena Saraswathi Sabadham.

Keerthy Suresh will play a typical middle-class ponnu whose personality evolves as the plot progresses. Mime Gopi, Sendrayan, and veteran stuntman Super Subbarayan are among the characters who have been cast as extras in the film. The characters of the antagonist, the heroine’s mother, and her sister are yet to finalize.

The film is written and directed by K Chandru and bankrolled by Sudhan Sundaram and Jagadish Palanisamy. Cinematography is by Dinesh Krishnan B and editing is by Praveen KL. While Dhilip Subbarayan will handle the stunts, Vinoth Rajkumar will be in charge of the art direction.

The first-look poster of Keerthy Suresh’s Revolver Rita was released by none other than the Shaakuntalam actress Samantha.

Revolver Rita, a film with the same title, was released in 1970 as well. It was directed by KSR Dass and starred Vijayalalitha and Jothilakshmi. It is unclear whether this is a remake of the film. Given Keerthy’s retro appearance, it’s possible that the film was inspired by the original.
