Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Kaduva lands in trouble again

The Prithviraj Sukumaran-starring movie “Kaduva” has encountered controversy and legal issues ever since it was first announced. The movie’s creators have come into new difficulties as a result of Jose Kuruvinakunnel allegedly filing a case in the High Court to prevent the OTT release of the action-entertainment movie, even if the movie has finally opened in theatres and is doing well.

Earlier, the Censor Boards requested that the name of Prithviraj Sukumaran’s character in the movie be changed from Kuruvachan to Kuryachan due to a petition filed by Jose Kuruvinakkunel, a Pala resident, alleging that the movie is based on his life story and contains several scenes that defame him and his family. Despite the name change, “Kaduva” is currently involved in yet another legal dispute.

According to Jose Kuruvinakkunnel’s petition, the title of the main character has been changed to Kuriachan, but in some of the other Gulf country releases of the movie, Kuruvachan is still in use. According to reports, the court has indeed received the petition and has mandated that a notice be made against the “Kaduva” producers. After the movie’s debut, however, “Kaduva” had a number of problems as viewers pointed out a significant flaw in one of the film’s segments that would offend children with disabilities and their parents. The “Kaduva” producers issued a formal apology for the incident and later re-edited the film to remove the contentious section.

“Kaduva,” directed by Shaji Kailas, is one of the most successful Mollywood productions, and the audience reacted favourably to the movie as well. In the action film, Bollywood actor Vivek Oberoi played a pivotal antagonist role alongside Prithviraj Sukumaran.
