President Droupadi Murmu accepted Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s request to hear the concerns of opposition parties on the Manipur issue. The President will meet the opposition MPs at 11.30 am on Wednesday. Since the annual session began on July 20, the opposition has been demanding a comprehensive debate on the violence in Manipur in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. The opposition also demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should make a statement in Parliament regarding the situation in the state.
The opposition has called for the President’s intervention to resolve the violence in Manipur.A group of 21 members of opposition MPs visited the affected areas and met with the people living in the relief camps.
