In Indian cinema these days, big-budget films are being prepared on a huge canvas. But due to the uniqueness of the content and the excellence of presentation, some of the smaller films have achieved great success among them. This is rarely the case with any language film industry. Kollywood now has a movie in theaters that can stand in that line. The film is a success not only in Tamil Nadu but also in Kerala.
The movie is directed by Vignesh Raja starring Sarath Kumar and Ashok Selvan. The film, which belongs to the thriller drama category, hit the theaters on June 9. According to box office trackers, the film collected Rs 23 crore in Tamil Nadu in 17 days. It’s a huge success for a film made on a relatively small budget, with no A-list superstars. Meanwhile, the film has collected Rs 5.7 crore from Kerala so far. This is the type of collection that most recent Malayalam films do not get.
It is interesting to note that this Tamil film is getting collections in Kerala too when the audience rejected most of the Malayalam films released after the huge success of 2018. The film was released in 51 screens in Kerala. But due to its popularity, the film was extended to 104 screens in the second week. Starring Nikhila Vimal as the female lead, the film also stars Sarath Babu, OK Sundar, Sunil Sukhada, and others. The film has been written by Vignesh Raja along with Alfred Prakash. Cinematography by Kalaiyarasan Sivaji. Produced by Sreejith Sarangam Editing, Music by Jakes Bijoy, Applos Entertainment, E4 Experiments, and Aprius Studio.
