Pathaan debuted and became a box-office sensation one month ago today. The Shah Rukh Khan starrer broke the first-ever Rs. 1000 crore globally and Rs. 500 crore net in India for a Bollywood film, shattering nearly every box office record as we know it. The movie has made a tonne of money for its producers, Yash Raj Productions.
Pathaan would generate a staggering recovery of more than 650 crore rupees from all sources of income. It surpasses Aamir Khan’s Dangal to have the highest Bollywood film recovery ever. 450 crores of rupees were recovered from Dangal, excluding the money made in China. Credible sources estimate that out of the Rs. 1125 crore in sales in China, Dangal’s revenue there is somewhere between Rs. 120 and Rs. 150 crore. This results in a total recovery for Dangal of Rs. 570–600 crores, which is now surpassed by Pathaan’s incredible amount of Rs. 660 crores and above. No other Hindi film has ever reached the 400 crore rupee revenue recovery mark, making this achievement unique in the business.
In terms of Pathaan’s revenue recovery, the original Hindi version brought in a distributor share of Rs. 255 crores in India, and the dubbed Telugu and Tamil versions brought in an extra Rs. 9 crores. The movie is anticipated to bring in an additional Rs. 5 crores from the Hindi version, bringing the whole revenue in India to approximately Rs. 269 crores. The film is anticipated to make roughly $48.50 million (Rs. 397 crores) overseas, of which an estimated Rs. 168 crore would be contributed by the distributor.
