Palaruvi waterfalls in Kollam means ‘stream of milk’


Palaruvi waterfall is one of the state’s most beautiful cascades hidden in the tropical forest of Kollam. Thousands every year make it a point to come for a trek through the woods and take a refreshing bath in this silver cascade. From a distance, you see for yourself why this beautiful cascade in the middle of the woods is given the name Palaruvi. Get into the natural pool where the cascade falls. Feel the might of water plummeting from such height as it heals your body inch by inch like a skilled masseuse. Palaruvi (literally “stream of milk”) falls from a height of 300 feet (91 m) and is situated at Aryankavu in the Kollam district of the south Indian state of Kerala.

The picturesque Palaruvi Waterfall is situated amidst a dense patch of tropical forest in Kollam. As its name suggests, the waterfall resembles a milky stream gushing down rocky terrain. The stream traces its course through a range of medicinal plants and herbs in the forest that is known to have therapeutic properties. The site of the waterfall serves as a perfect picnic spot with the surrounding lush green forest. It offers a view of the pictorial hazy blue mountains and provides a chance for a refreshing dip in the waters.
