Alappuzha: Agriculture minister Sunil Kumar has said that Karnataka’s rice procurement will be restarted after lockdown control is tightened due to coronaviruses in the state.

The paddy procurement was adversely affected by the lorries not reaching them. The minister said he had spoken to the mill owners at a high-level meeting in Alappuzha.The paddy procurement will not be hampered at all.

The paddy storage in Kuttanad ceased when lorries came to collect paddy from past fields. Meanwhile, harvesting began in Upper Kuttanad. Harvesting of paddy fields in Upper Kuttanad has begun without harvest in the wake of the corona scare.
