Nivin Pauly’s Saturday Night release delayed

It appears that Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan would avoid Mollywood from releasing projects during the festive season. While a fierce box office competition was anticipated between Mohanlal’s Monster, Mammootty’s Rorschach, Suresh Gopi’s Mei Hoom Moosa, and Nivin Pauly’s Saturday Night, it currently appears that only the Suresh Gopi picture will secure the release date.

According to recent sources, Rosshan Andrews’ comedy directed by Nivin might not debut on September 29 as originally planned and instead will open in theatres a week later. Rumor has claimed that the production firm for the movie has already called a few theatre owners to inform them of the same.

The release of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus Ponniyin Selvan, one of the most eagerly awaited Tamil films this year, which has not yet been officially confirmed, is blamed for delaying the release of the film. Rorschach and Monster had previously postponed their release dates to the second and third weeks of October, respectively.

Meanwhile, Nivin’s Saturday Night is a high-budget story about friendships. Aju Varghese, Saiju Kurup, Siju Wilson, Saniya Iyyappan, and Grace Antony also appear in the movie. It was filmed in locales in Karnataka, Kerala, and Dubai.

In the film, which was written by Naveen Bhaskar, Rosshan, who earlier this year had helmed Dulquer Salmaan’s direct-to-OTT release Salute, reunites with Nivin. In an earlier interview with us, Nivin had said, “It’s an all-out entertainer. I am sure the audience will enjoy it. The visuals have all come out great. The movie involves travel to a lot of unexplored terrains.”

Interestingly, this is the third Nivin-starring film to postpone its October 21 release date this year, following Liju Krishna’s Padavettu and Rajeev Ravi’s Thuramukham.
