“In response to the Nipah alert, educational institutions in Kozhikode have been shut down indefinitely starting from the 18th, transitioning to online classes only. This directive applies to schools, private tuition centers, and Anganwadis. Public examinations will proceed as scheduled.Meanwhile, Health Minister Veena George reported no new Nipah cases in the state. Testing of 11 high-risk individuals closely connected to the patients yielded negative results. Out of 94 samples from the contact list, all have tested negative except for six as of yesterday.
Presently, 24 individuals are in isolation at the medical college, with patients receiving treatment at the medical college and two private hospitals. A medical board is evaluating the situation at all three hospitals where patients are being treated. The health minister noted that the medical board’s recent reports indicate satisfactory conditions for the patients over the last two days. In an ongoing effort to gather more information, core committees from 19 teams have convened. Additional ambulances have been dispatched to facilitate sample collection. The minister also mentioned that sample collection from individuals on the contact list in other districts will be completed today.The minister shared that the child of the first deceased person is still on a ventilator, showing slight improvement in health. Extensive efforts are underway to trace the source of the virus infection that led to the deceased individual.”
