The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has ordered the Chief Secretary of Delhi to submit a report on the encroachment on government land on Monday. The NGT passed the order on a petition on alleged possession of government land in Hyderpur. A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel called the report filed by the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NRDMC) as an exception, saying the action taken report was in fact a passivity report.
On the delay in compliance of orders, we request the Chief Secretary of Delhi to look into the matter and resolve the issue with necessary coordination. The Chief Secretary should meet within two months from today and submit the report by email before the next date. The Delhi Development Authority had earlier told the NGT that the area comes under NRDMC.
The NRDMC filed an affidavit denying it. It said that according to the Chief Municipal Planner, Land and Estate Department and Revenue Department, the encroachment is on the land of the Delhi government and not on its land. Under this, the action to remove encroachment should also be done by them.
