Netflix acquires ‘Master’ for a record amount

Master is a much awaited Vijay movie. Vijay Sethupathi will play the villain in the film directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj after Kaithi. The film, which was supposed to be released earlier, has been postponed due to Kovid’s background. Netflix now owns the digital rights to the film. With this, concerns have been raised about the release of the film.

 

Fans were expecting Master to be released in  Theater in 2021. Meanwhile, news comes that Netflix has acquired the digital rights. It is reported that Netflix has acquired the rights for a huge sum and this is the highest amount a Tamil film can get. Earlier, director Lokesh Kanagaraj had said that the film would be released in theaters only. But in the new situation, there is no confirmation as to whether the film will hit the theaters first or will be released directly on OTT.

However, there are some reports that Master 2021 will hit theaters as a Pongal release and only after that will there be an OTT release. Earlier, the teaser of the film was released. The teaser is breaking YouTube records. Millions of people have already watched the video. The film is produced by Xavier Brito. Vijay, Vijay Sethupathi, Malavika Mohanan, Andrea Jeremiah, Shantanu Bhagyaraj and Arjun Das will play the lead roles. Meanwhile, Vijay has returned to pre-production work on his 65th film.
