The district administration has tightened control over Ernakulam, which has the highest number of Covid spreads in Kerala. The Ernakulam District Disaster Management Authority has issued an order forbidding film shooting and operating theaters in the district for a week. The shooting of the film has been suspended till May 2. The operation of the theaters has also been suspended for a week. The ban comes after discussions with theater owners.

In addition to these two, the district administration has proposed to close amusement parks and other entertainment parks in the district, such as clubs and family gatherings. Restrictions similar to lockdown have been imposed in the Ernakulam district. Ernakulam district has the highest incidence of Kovid disease in India in terms of population ratio. Today 4468 Kovid cases have been reported in Ernakulam district.

Meanwhile, Kovid-19 was confirmed for 28,469 people in Kerala today. Outbreaks were reported in Ernakulam 4468, Kozhikode 3998, Malappuram 3123, Thrissur 2871, Kottayam 2666, Thiruvananthapuram 2020, Kannur 1843, Palakkad 1820, Alappuzha 1302, Kollam 1209, Pathanamthitta 871, Idukki 848, Kasaragod 771 and Wayanad 659. The test positivity rate is 22.46. It has been confirmed today that 30 deaths in the last few days have been caused by Kovid-19. This brings the total death toll to 5110.
