The nominee lists for the 2022 Indian Film Festival of Melbourne Awards are out. The ceremony is scheduled for August 14. The awards are given to movies and other media that were published between August 2021 and April 2022. Tovino Thomas’ superhero movie “Minnal Murali” has been nominated in two categories. The Basil Joseph-directed film is up for nominations in the categories of Best Film and Best Actor (Tovino Thomas). The other Malayalam film nominated alongside “Minnal Murali” for the Best Film award is “Paka (River of Blood).
The Minnal Murali movie, starring Tovino Thomas, received immediate worldwide praise for its innovative plot and presentation. And interestingly, it also marks the debut of a superhero in Malayalam film. Jaison, a young tailor, gains superpowers after being struck by lightning. However, he must finish the evil intentions of an unexpected adversary to become the superhero that his rural village needs. Guru Somasundaram plays the role of villain in the film.

Top nominations for the awards have gone to some of the year’s biggest blockbusters, including “Jai Bhim” starring Suriya, “The Rapist” with Aparna Sen, “Gangubai Kathiwadi” featuring Alia Bhatt, “83” with Ranveer Singh, “Badhaai Do” with Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, and “Sardar Udham” with Vicky Kaushal. The Indian Film Festival Of Melbourne, one of the largest worldwide Indian film festivals, is held in Melbourne, Australia, and features the top movies from India and the subcontinent. Due to the epidemic, the festival has only been held virtually for the past two years. This year, however, it is finally returning.
