Mari Selvaraj paid tribute to Folk artiste Nellai Thangaraj


Thangaraj, a street play artist, has passed away. In Mari Selvaraj’s “Pariyerum Perumal,” Thangaraj played Kathir’s father. In a film that was well-received by critics and audiences alike, he perfected an effeminate character. In the movie, he got the credit for playing Vannarpettai Thangaraj. He died in Tirunelveli because he was ill.

In Tamil, the director Mari Selvaraj wrote, “Rest in peace father. Your footprints remain even on my last work. Pariyerum Perumal.”

The talented actor was poor in 2021 and was actually surviving on porridge that his neighbors gave to him. He had a home in Tirunelveli, but the floods destroyed it.
Critical acclaim was shown for Mari Selvaraj’s “Pariyerum Perumal.” The film, which was the director’s first directorial effort, starred Kathir and Kayal Anandhi in the lead roles and was funded by acclaimed director Pa Ranjith. In this film, various famous actors like Kadir, Anandi, Yogi Babu were acting.
