When Dineshan first makes Shoba fall for him, he does so quite literally. He’s out to cause trouble for a cousin who is getting married, but in a comedy of errors, Shoba ends up getting hurt. Thus starts the love-not so love relationship between the duo played with flair by Nivin Pauly and style by Nayanthara.

This is a film that will win over youngsters large-scale. Dineshan is not the regular lover boy; he comes complete with flaws. In fact, he has more flaws – he’s an alcoholic and a loafer, falling back on family wealth –than good qualities, but he loves Shoba and he’s willing to go by her conditions to clean up his act, to fully win her over. The movie’s big message is about marriage and the need to put in the effort to make things work out. Love Action Drama is a simple, in fact, old fashioned tale, but it has many laughs out loud moments and, apart from the lead acts, who have great charisma and chemistry, Aju Varghese who plays Sagar, Nivin Pauly’s cousin and confidante, adds great entertainment.

Quite a bit of the film is propped up by the songs, which plays in the background to several scenes, so it’s a good thing that you feel like grooving to the music. Shaan Rahman’s composition gels well with the youthful vibes of the movie. Actor, and now director Dhyan Sreenivasan, shows confidence behind the camera, that makes one think that we can see more films helmed by him. The humor is more like his brother, Vineeth, rather than father, Sreenivasan. There are some fun cameos, but we don’t want to spill all the beans. Love Action Drama marks a promising start to the Onam releases, and will definitely appeal to youth crowds, and to families.
