During the 1940s, she accepted her first proposal to sing for a Marathi film named Kiti Hasaal. She sang the song however tragically, the song was dropped from the last form of the film. She rose to fame in Indian film with the well-known Dil Mera Toda tune. Thus she showed up in Majboor (1948). Additionally, her melody, Aayega Aanewala, which she sang for Madhubala in Mahal, turned into a huge chartbuster.

During the 1950s, Lata Mangeshkar became one of the most sought-after singers in the Hindi entertainment world.
