Sargi is important during Karva Chauth fast. Before the fast begins, mother-in-law gives some sweet clothes and accessories to her daughter-in-law. Before sunrise on Karva Chauth, women start their fast only after eating sargi. After this, the entire day is kept as Nirjala vow and the fast is opened only after offering Arghya to the Moon.

After the puja, offering sahuag material by touching the feet of a mother-in-law with rice, urad dal, sahaag or any sauhagan woman like them, in a clay pot.
