Kannada singer Shivamogga Subbanna passed away

According to sources close to the family, Kannada singer Shivamogga Subbanna passed away on Thursday night at a hospital in this city after suffering a heart attack. He was 83. One of the sources stated, “He was admitted to Jayadeva Hospital in the city where he passed away,” He is survived by a daughter and a son.

In the movie “Kaadu Kudure,” Subbanna’s song “Kaadu Kudure Odi Banditta” earned him the first National Award for playback singing. Subbanna is well-known for his work in the genre of “Sugama Sangeetha,” which consists of singing poems by well-known Kannada poets like Kuvempu and Da Ra Bendre. Subbanna has won numerous awards for his work in this genre.

He was not only an exemplary singer-musician, but Shivamogga was also an advocate and a notary public.  He was also a singer with Akashvani and Doordarshan.
